L25 1 10 1 1 2×2 Nickel Over Pass(2) In/Texas Inc
Compton (+1) (coverage +1) with the PBU.  Smith and Hood run a stunt at the line pressure is meh.  Compton and Foster play hook, Fuller and Norman have flats, cover 3 behind?  RB comes on a delayed Texas route, Stafford should’ve targeted him.
L25 2 10 1 1 3×1(tight) Nickel Over Run(Str) IZ 8
3 WRs are lined up to the same side drawing Norman outside, Fuller over 2 and Breeland over 3 with Blackmon behind him at FS.  Whitner over the TE as SS.  IZ double blows Baker (-1) off the line.  Hood (+0.5) with good penetration to the playside A gap forcing a cutback into Baker’s lane.  Foster covers his A gap and spills to Whitner (-0.5) whose late coming down in coverage.  Kerrigan (+0.5) with a solid contain.
L33 3 2 1 1 2Hx2 Nickel Over Pass(2) Rollout Out 1
Kerrigan and Baker run a stunt that loses contain.  Boldin with a questionable offensive PI, Norman (-1) (coverage -1).  Boldin runs the worst route ever and drifts in front of the first down marker.  HB stayed in to block.
Punt.  14:01 remains 1st qtr.  0-0.

Ln Dn Ds RB TE Off Formation Def Formation R(S/W)/P(SH) Play Call Yards
L20 1 10 1 2 3(2tight)x1 6OL 3-4 under PA Pass(1) Comeback 11
Blackmon walks into the box and has RB coverage.  Norman locked in on the 1 WR side.  Looks like C3 with Norman playing press, Breeland (-0.5) (coverage -1) playing off.  Stafford attacks the soft coverage.  Murphy (-0.5) drops off and we have C3 with 4 underneath.  Murphy needs to widen his zone on that and play underneath for this exact route.  Front 4 get no pressure (pressure -1)
L31 1 10 1 2 2(TE Split)x2 3-4 OLB Split Run(Boundary) Toss Sweep 9
Hood (-1) gets sealed inside and loses his gap.  Baker (-1) loses ground to gain ground but then gets knocked down and causes a pile up.  Foster (-2) fails to get over top of Norman and the WR to work the pulling tackle.  He’s in the pile up.  Norman is left one on one with a tackle.  kerrigan (-0.5) took himself out the play and worked upfield and got sealed.  He does deepen the tackle’s pull though giving time for help to arrive.
L40 2 1 1 1 Pistol 2×2 Nickel Over PA Pass(1) PA OZ Boot 9
TE motion bumps LBs over, Whitner comes down to play field 30 tech.  Hard run action sucks up Whitner and Compton who now have to turn their backs to the QB to cover.  Kerrigan (-1) loses contain as he pursued run action.  I have no idea who Foster (-1) (coverage -1) thinks he’s covering.  He’s robotically dropping into zone.
L49 1 10 1 1 3×1 Nickel Over Run(weak) Power G 1
We are definetly a gap short unless safety is playing deep just like against the Giants.  Yep, and it’s power.  Jenkins (-0.5) can’t handle the double initially and it works its way to Compton (+0.5) who fits on the other A gap, he switches with Jenkins on the fly.  Jenkins fights around the center block and helps clean up the play.  Kerrigan (+1) stunts inside the tackle and absorbs him and the pulling guard.  This frees up Foster (+1) to fit past the pulling guard and wrap up the RB for a 1 yard gain.  Foster had 2 gaps to cover and we are asking Compton to fight around a guard.  Blackmon (-1) is late filling but this almost looks like it was by assignment.
50 2 9 0 1 Empty 3Hx2 Nickel Over Pass(1) Dig Inc
I can’t find an RB split out wide, this looks like 1 TE, 4 WR personnel.  Leaving Blackmon and Norman to the 2 WR side.  Compton over the TE, Fuller and Breeland over the WRs.  We rush 5, Foster (+1.5) with a bat at the line for the PBU.  Norman (coverage +1) had that dig route covered anyways.
50 3 9 1 0 3×1 Nickel Split Pass(2) Comeback 16
Blackmon over #3 WR Norman to the single side.  Garvin in for Foster as the Cravensbacker.  He takes the RB.  (pressure -1)  Throw bounces off of Breeland into the WR hands.
R34 1 10 2 1 2H(tight)x2 3-4 under Run(weak) Split Zone 4
Late TE motion brings Breeland over.  H Back is now split zone backside blocker.  LBs bump their gap responsibility to the left in the direction of the Hback puller: Foster goes from backside A to inside of the Puller.  Compton (+0.5) goes from 50 tech to take backside A.  Whitner takes 50.  Francois (-1) gets doubled and removed.   Whitner (-0.5) a little hesitant to fill.  Ioannidis (+2) fights off a block and makes an arm tackle and wraps up.
R30 2 6 1 1 3Hx1 Nickel Over PA Pass(2) End Around HB Screen Inc
Foster on a run blitz.  Split zone action sees Whitner covering Compton’s original gap and Compton bumping over top of Foster and filling in the new gap by the pulling H Back.  Foster (+1) blows up the screen and Hood (+0.5) was there to cover.
R30 3 6 1 0 3×1 Nickel Over Pass(1) Double Rub Crosser Inc
Norman manned up to the single side.  3 WR side sees Dunbar over 1, Fuller over 2, Breeland over 3.  Blackmon is FS, man-free.  Cravens is in at Cravensbacker and takes the RB.  We blitz Compton but Stafford still has a full 3 to throw, Compton kinda in his face but throw makes it.  Double rub concept with Fuller having to work through both. (pressure -1) the fact that he had to means too much time was afforded to Stafford.
FG no good.  3:56 remains.  0-0.

L20 1 10 2 1 I-Form 2(twins)x1(tight) 6OL 3-4 under Run(Str) Iso 4
Iso designed to cut back.  Linebackers are bumped over to the weak side expecting iso with the FB leading to that side.  Extra OL is Cornelius Lucas, 6-9 330 good grief.  Baker (-1) removed from the line by a double they work their way towards Compton.  Hood (+0.5) works down the line and he and Compton fill either side of the FB.  Compton had to fill 2 possible gaps depending on where the FB fills so him catching this block is understandable plus Baker didn’t help.  Whitner (+0.5) fills in space as the 6th OL sealed out Smith backside.  Not sure how Smith is supposed to combat that.
L24 2 6 2 1 Pistol Offset I 2×1 3-4 under Pass(1) Swing 8
Compton (-1) (coverage -1) is a step too late in recognizing it’s pass and he has to cover far hash to the sideline against Forsett.  Not going to end well.
L32 1 10 1 1 3×1 Nickel Over Run(Str) Power G 9
WR motion sees the LBs flip as Foster stays to the boundary.  Blackmon walks down to the box.  This time they run power to the TE side.  Baker (+0.5) and Murphy cover backside gaps with Baker almost trying to 2 gap…daring the back to cut it back.  Hood (-1) gets blown off the line with the double.  Blackmon (-1) fails to replace Foster’s A gap and instead hovers over the backside gaps.  Foster (-1.5) is late getting over top of the Tackle and stays over A gap.  This can’t be how they are coached to stop this shit.  We did the same thing against the Giants and got destroyed.  Looks like bad safety play or bad coaching.  Compton (+0.5) attacks the Pulling guard’s outside shoulder.  If Foster filled on the inside shoulder we’d be just fine and Blackmon replaced his gap we’d be just fine.
L41 2 1 1 1 Pistol 3Hx1 Nickel Over Run(Str) Trap/Wham 9
This is genius play calling.  This play is building off of the Split Zone called earlier and that induces Foster (-1) to loop outside.  Compton (-1) just sits and watches. He stays in his gap but catches a block 3 yards downfield.  With pulling HBack action, it looks like Foster is supposed to work outside to gap exchange with Murphy.  In Nickel D that would leave Blackmon (-2) as the guy to fill since Foster loops out, Compton does not replace, looks like he’s coached to keep his A-gap.
50 1 10 1 1 2×2 Nickel Over Run(Str) Toss Sweep 3(-10)
We had this scouted presnap.  Foster is lined up way wide to take this play away.  Motion inside draws Whitner (+0.5) to absorb the crack block intended for Foster and Foster is free to work outside along with Breeland.  Pulling tackle deals with both, and they funnel inside to Hood (+0.5) who worked up the line.  Foster overplays his gap responsiblity as he doesn’t trust Breeland outside, he might be right on that one.  Foster (+0.5).  Crack on Whitner drew a holding call.
L40 1 20 1 1 2Hx2 Nickel Over PA Pass(1) Drag Inc
Foster has TE, Fuller in the slot, play action doesn’t do much we had Blackmon with underneath coverage.  (coverage -1) (pressure +1)  Baker (-1) flushes Stafford out the pocket and loses contain.  He got greedy.  Compton (-1) completley abandoned his zone repsonsibility once he saw Stafford scramble.  That opens up a drag route for a first down behind him and that’s more yards than a scramble would have gotten.  plus Foster has flat and can make a tackle there if Stafford goes.
L40 2 20 0 1 3Hx2 Nickel Split Pass(2) WR Screen 27
Foster (-2) on a blitz and doesn’t realize the tackle has worked outside of him which would be the worst pass blocking leverage ever.  Blackmon (-2) is late on his fill.
R33 1 10 2 1 Offset I 2(twins)x1(tight) 6OL 3-4 under Run(weak) Toss Sweep 2
Kerrigan (+1) penetrates through the crack block and deepens the sweep path of the RB.  This allows  Breeland (+1) time to lose ground in order to gain ground outside.  Francois and Foster (+0.5) also in pursuit.
R31 2 8 1 1 2×2 Nickel Over Pass(2) Circle 7
Blackmon and Foster are getting enough depth to avoid a deep In behind them (coverage +1) this allows an underneath route to open up, but it’s closed on before it hits the first down marker.  (pressure -1)
R24 3 1 2 2 Offset I 2(tight)x1 6OL 3-4 under Run(str) Counter -1
2 tight end side has an OL furthest inside.  They draw Dunbar and Whitner in coverage.  6th OL tries to work up to Foster (+1.5) who dodges him and works to the RB.  Jenkins (+1) submarines the tackle and Compton (+1) comes in behind him and submarines the FB.  Smith (+1) okie dokes the pulling guard trying to kick out.  Foster and then Smith make the tackle.  We had to have had this play scouted as well.
FG.  9:42 remains 2nd qtr.  0-3.

L35 1 10 1 2 3Hx1 3-4 Under Pass(1) Arrow/Double Cross Inc
Nacho is in at FS probably replacing Blackmon for performance reasons.  Compton has the TE on the arrow route.  Foster has the RB.  Looks like a snag concept from the Bunch that transformed into double cross but hard to know withouth Coaches film angle.  Pocket collapsed, coverage was excellent across the board. (pressure +1) (coverage +1)
L35 2 10 1 1 3×1(tight) Nickel Over Run(Str) Toss Sweep 2
RB and TE are lined up to the same side.  Hood (+1.5) keeps his feet on the cut block and works to the sideline and makes the tackle.  Foster (+1) lined up over the back and made contact with the center in the backfield, funneled the RB back to Hood and Compton (+1) who also fought through a cut block.  Kerrigan worked the TE and tried closing the outside gap.
L37 3 8 1 0 2×2 Nickel Split Pass(1) Sack -8
Cravens in for Foster.  Norman and Breeland lined up to the boundary, Norman over Jones, Breeland over Boldin.  Fuller and Dunbar to the other side.  So 4 CBs in this line up.  We take away underneath routes with zone only the RB is left open (coverage +1), Kerrigan (+2) (pressure +1) with the sack off of a stiff arm that knocked the tackle off balance.
Punt.  3:28 remains in the half.  0-3.
Drive 5 (10:13)
Ln Dn Ds RB TE Off Formation Def Formation R(S/W)/P(SH) Play Call Yards
L14 1 10 1 1 Pistol 3Hx1 Nickel Over Run(weak) Split Zone 2
Nacho aligned up to the same side as Norman (single WR side.)  Murphy and Hood (+1.5) slants inside and Hood screws up the center’s blocking.  Hback has to wham into Hood and can’t block backside where Nacho is coming in hard and fast along with Foster.  Foster redirects back inside after realizing a backside Hback isn’t happening and catches a block.  Compton (+1) replaces Foster’s gap and makes the stop.  Baker (+1) is 2 gapping the backside guard and comes off his block to make the stop along with Compton.  Kerrigan slow plays the QB boot.
L16 2 8 1 1 4-Wide 2×2(stack) Nickel Over Pass(2) Snag/Scramble 18
Snag concept out of the stack formation that has a TE and WR aligned to the RB side.  RB Arrow route takes Foster out of the box and we have 5 players rushing 6 gaps (pressure -1) with Murphy looping 2 gaps over to free up Compton to the outside.  Lions switch and we don’t make it to the QB which leaves a gaping hole between Hood and Compton. (coverage +1)
L34 1 10 1 2 3(2tight)x1 6OL 3-4 under PA Pass(1) Drag/Post 52
Play action doesn’t affect much.  C3 with 4 underneath, Murphy and Nacho have curl/flat.  We rush 4 (pressure -1).  Breeland passes the Drag off to the hook defenders and Whitner (-3) (coverage -3) bites on the coverage over top the drag.  Leaving a void in the middle of the field for the Go.  Norman was funneling to help over top and playing trail position on the post route but Whitner never showed up to play over top.
L14 1 10 2 1 I-Form 2(twins)x1(tight) 6OL 3-4 under Run(Str) Iso 2
Double on Hood (+1) who split it, cutback behind that double.  Baker (+1) slants inside and forces the cutback one more gap back.  Francois and Kerrigan hold frontside gaps, Murphy archs and has contain/boot responsibility.  FB leads his iso block between Baker’s slant and Murphy’s contain, Compton (+1) and Whitner (+1) fill on either side.  Nacho comes in for some.
L12 2 8 1 1 3×1 Nickel Over Pass(1) Back Shoulder 11
Taking advantage of Norman’s absence they attack Breeland’s man coverage.  Good throw and catch.  Breeland gets a jam at the line sticks with his man but gets out physicaled and gets back shouldered.  (coverage – 0.5)
L1 1 G 1 2 2×2 3-4 under Pass(1) Fade Inc
This time Breeland fights back while the ball closes in and doesn’t get pushed off (coverage +1)
L1 2 G 2 3 I-Form 2(tight)x1(tight) 6OL Goal line Run FB Dive 1(TD)
OL gets under Garvin (-1).   Hood (+1) holds up.  Francois submarines the line and closes off an bounce outside, I guess.  Baker (-1) takes on a double and gets driven back into the end zone.  FB follows this block.
Touchdown.  7:28 remains 3rd qtr.  3-10.
Drive 6 (3:22)

L38 1 10 1 1 3Hx1 Nickel Over PA Pass(1) PA OZ Boot 7
Breeland gets burned deep Stafford doesn’t see it.  I guess we let these Boots go uncontested as Whitner had contain but fell back to the flat and Kerrigan is chasing the QB.  3rd option underneath goes uncovered, not sure whose fault that is but it looks like Whitner is overlapping some other people’s zones (coverage -1)
L45 2 3 1 1 3Hx1 Nickel Over Run(weak) Wham 4(+5)
Hood (-1.5) gets sealed out and called for hands to the face.  Kerrigan and Jenkins get whammed.  Foster and Compton left to take on OL blocks.  Jenkins (+1) spins around the wham and makes the stop, Whitner fills.
R46 1 10 1 1 2Hx2(stack) Nickel Over Run(Str) End Around Jet 22
Line slants inside, Foster (-2) can’t make it to contain fast enough, ends up running horizontal.  Smith (-2) gets caught flat footed.  He should be playing outside hard and funneling back in more.  Compton and Whitner run the play OOB.  Not sure how Blackmon and Fuller were dividing pass/run zones on this play.  It looks like Blackmon and Whitner were expecting a pulling HBack because they Drop Blackmon and Whitner (lined up over the HBack) drops deep)
R24 1 10 1 1 3×1(tight) Nickel Over PA Pass(2) Bubble 3
Blackmon (+1) reads the bubble and takes a good angle to stop it for meh yards.
R21 2 7 1 3 2×2(tight) 3-4 under Run(weak) OZ 1
Nacho (+1) keeps contain at the line, Kerrigan (+1) holds up the double and his gap, both guys funnel the RB back. Ioannidis gets sealed out, but may have kept his gap responsibility.  Foster (-1) is delayed with a read and gets cut blocked and is behind 2 gaps.  Compton (+2) reads and flows, avoids the cut block and makes the play.  Foster is too hesistant, Compton isn’t.
R20 3 6 0 1 Empty 3Hx2  Nickel Split Pass(1) Seam/In 9
Cravens in for Foster.  Blackmon steps up to zone cover the slot inside out with Cravens.  (pressure +1)  Compton (-2) (coverage -2)  Overplays his zone and jams the seam route by the TE, which Fuller had covered and the In route is wide open.  Man, Compton is horrible at zone coverage.
R11 1 10 1 1 2×2 Nickel Over Back Shoulder Sack -2
Murphy (+3) with a strip-sack (pressure +1).  (coverage +1)  WR motions over, line stays shifted to TE side.  LBs switch so Compton stays aligned to the passing strength, whitner comes down a bit for run support.  RB aligned to 1 WR side.
R13 2 12 1 1 3×1 Nickel Over Pass(2) Whip Inc(-10)
Baker (+1) drops and drapes the TE, wow.  A triangle is formed around the TE (coverage +1) and all initial routes are covered.  Then Stafford buys time vs the 3 man rush (pressure not minused b/c holding) and Breeland (-1) loses his man to the sideline.  Inaccurate throw saves us.  Holding called.
R23 2 22 0 1 Empty 3Hx2 Nickel Split Pass(2) WR Screen 14
Cravens (-1) needs to come over top his block Compton (-0.5) comes in at a poor angle.  They got us before the snap, we were backed way off.
R9 3 8 0 1 Empty 3×2 Nickel Over Pass(1) Whip Inc
Cravens in again.  TE lined up as #2 on the 3 receiver side, draws Fuller over top.  Toler and Dunbar over the 1s.  Blackmon to the 2WR side, he and Whitner have seams.  Baker drops back again.  Kerrigan (+1) (pressure +1) flushes Stafford out the pocket, or else he might have seen the TE open for a split second.  Blackmon (+2) (coverage +1) makes a PBU on the out cut.  Fuller got worked by the TE.  Pressure didn’t let stafford see him.
FG.  13:14 remains 4th qtr. 3-13.

L25 1 10 1 1 2Hx2(stack) Nickel Over Run(weak) Jet Motion Trap 3
They ran the end around Jet last time they were in this formation.  Baker (+2) blows up the pulling guard trap block and makes the stop for a minimal gain.  Hood (+0.5) held his gap and took away any cutbacks.  If Baker got sealed we were in trouble as Compton (-1) got taken out.  Looks like Foster had jet responsibility along with Whitner?
L28 2 7 1 1 2Hx2 Nickel Over Pass(2) Comeback 8
Backers are bumped over, allowing for a CB blitz by Fuller who also has Blackmon lined up behind him.  Presnap this looks like Slot CB Blitz.  RB sees this and goes over to block, we back out–it was a fake, this lets Foster get a free path to the QB (pressure +1) but Stafford is able to get rid of it (coverage -1) since Dunbar (-1) is one on one with their top WR.  About time someone attacks him.  Looks like Boldin adjusted to a hot route snag.
L36 1 10 2 1 Offset I 2(twins)x1(tight) 6OL 3-4 under Run(Str) OZ 2
Last time they ran this formation it was a crack toss sweep to the twins side.  They motion the WR like it’s the same play and run OZ.  Smith (+0.5) keeps contain, Baker (+0.5) slants down a gap and blows through, misses the tackle but slows down the RB and allows for help.  Compton (+1.5) hauls butt to the gap next to Baker and blows up the FB.  Hood (+1.5) keeps gap resp., disengages and makes the play.  Francois (-0.5)  and Foster (-0.5) can’t keep their feet after cut blocks and almost gave up a huge play if the RB cut back.  Baker messed up his read though.
L38 2 8 1 1 3×1 Nickel Split Pass(1) Bubble/Sack -6
Baker (+3) bull rushes and knocks over his man into the RB who also gets taken out.  He spills the QB into Smith (+1) who gets the sack.  Play was set up for a bubble route (coverage +1) coverage took it away.
L32 3 14 1 1 3Hx1 Nickel Split Pass(2) Inc
Garvin in at Cravensbacker.  He has RB resp. (pressure -1).  Dunbar and Whitner lined up to the single WR side.  Blackmon-Fuller-Breeland to the 3 WR side.  Blackmon (+1) (coverage +1) was over top of 2 and still got over to help on 1.   That’s why we try to keep him in there, he’s our best option at FS.

L25 1 10 1 0 2×2 Nickel Split Pass(2) Wheel/Dig 23
Cravens in for Foster, he’s lined up over Bolden.  He gets a good jam and then drifts into a curl/flat zone instead of carrying the wheel, yikes.  Boldin is open for a touchdown.  (coverage -2)  Blackmon (-1) is playing Hook OR Robber coverage, either way he takes the underneath bait and leaves the Dig behind him open.  Same with Compton (-1).  Murphy (-1) and Hood leave a gaping hole for Stafford to run through (pressure -1).  Murphy’s arc was 10 yards deep, needs to be 3 yards tighter.  Fuller and Breeland squeeze the #1 to their side.  Whitner maintains depth at FS but needs to get over to the WR Strength more.   Either Dunbar or Cravens has that wheel.
L42 1 10 1 0 2×2 Nickel Split Pass(2) Scramble 14
(pressure +1) Kerrigan (-2) gets to the QB but can’t wrap up.  Cravens has curl/flat and this time plays over top.  (coverage +1)
R38 1 10 1 0 2×2 Nickel Pinch Pass(2) Double In 20
Wheel/Dig concept with Boldin running the wheel is back, this time Cravens stays underneath and Dunbar is the one carrying the wheel.  Cravens and Safety sandwich the Dig.  Top of the screen is a double In route with the RB running in the flat underneath those.  Fuller is the conflict defender, I think he splits the difference between the 2 routes and plays this fine.  The first In route cuts in front of Compton (-1) (coverage -1) who got too much depth and doesn’t reach to what is in front of him.  Yes it’s a Tampa 2 drop but when the guys in front of you cut, then attack.
R18 1 10 1 0 2×2 Nickel Split Pass(1) Fade Inc
Blackmon pulled for an extra CB in the red zone.  Toler and Dunbar are outside.  Breeland and Fuller over the seams.  Whitner deep safety.  They test Toler (+2) (coverage +2) who saves a touchdown by squeezing the WR route OOB.
R18 2 10 1 0 2×2 Nickel Okie Pass(1) Whip/Corner Inc
Slant-out/Corner concepts mirror on both sides.  (pressure +1)  Cravens (+1) dips the shoulder and gets past the HB, inches away from the sack.  Toler on the underneath route (coverage +1).  May have gotten away with contact.
R18 3 10 1 1 3×1(tight) Nickel Over Pass(2) Out-n-Post 18(TD)
we rush 3 (pressure -1).  Dropping Hood adds nothing (coverage -3).  Compton (-3) is the conflict defender and the underneath crosser sucks his attention and Boldin finds room behind him.  Fuller (-3) has wall off coverage but gets over top of Boldin’s out break too early and a swim move gives Boldin inside leverage.
Touchdown.  16 seconds remain.
