Just two weeks after holding the top ranked offense in DVOA to 10 points below their points per game average (discarding the fluke fumble-TD at the end) Washington decided to go the other direction on Sunday by allowing DVOA’s 29th ranked offense six points over their points per game average.

There is something about praying for a stop on every 3rd down against an 0-5 team that can leave you feeling demoralized, even after a win.  But lowered expectations aside, offseason additions Zach Brown and DJ Swearinger continue to elevate a defense that was reeling this time last year:

and minus Josh Norman, mainstays Quinton Dunbar and Kendall Fuller closed out the final quarter:

We might have stolen a win from an 0-5 team but we can erase that uneasy feeling next week when we avenge a week 1 loss and solidify second place in the NFC East.
