Ln Dn Ds RB TE Off Formation Def Formation Run/P(SH) Play Call Yards
N25 1 10 2 1 I-Form 2×1(tight) 3-4 under Run Iso Will 4
FB is aiming for the Will, Zach Brown, who scrape exchanges with Kerrigan.  Kerrigan slants inside the tackle, Brown comes over top to draw the FB outside,  Brown and Kerrigan (+0.5) set an edge and force the cutback inside of Kerrigan who comes off his block to wrap up, can’t before ceding 4 yards, McClain (-0.5) should be there but got torqued and sealed out the play.  Hood also removed from the line but that might be intentional to allow McGee (+0.5) to close the gap between him and Kerrigan where they meet at the RB.
N29 2 6 1 1 Empty 3×2 Nickel Even Pass(2) Pick play Out 18(-10)
OPI.  RB motion outside draws Breeland in coverage.  Ioannidis starts in our nickel package next to Lanier.  OPI is the only reason this worked, Norman (+0.5) (coverage +1) closed in on the Out immediatley.  On the other side, Nicholson looks awkward in slot coverage, he hesitates before closing in on the flat zone Out.
N19 2 16 1 1 3×1(tight) Nickel Even Pass(2) Jet WR Tunnel Screen Inc
There it is.  Ioannidis (+0.5) holds onto the releasing lineman which allowed Spaight a free run at the WR.  Fuller (+1) (coverage +1) blows this thing up, Brees should’ve checked out this play.  Backside, Brown, Galette and Breeland blanketed the RB and Jet Motion WR.
N19 3 16 1 1 Empty 3×2 Nickel Split Pass(2) Back Shoulder INT
RB motion to the slot draws Nicholson in coverage, DJ is high safety.  Twists up front generate zero pressure (pressure -1) (coverage+1). Breeland with press inside leverage, DJ (+3) splits the difference between the two verticals and undercuts a back shoulder throw
Interception.  Lanier and Ion start in the Nickel, Hood and the McLineman in the 3-4.  Tunnel Screen made an early appearance and Fuller shut it down.  We had the Iso play and WR screen scouted presnap.

Ln Dn Ds RB TE Off Formation Def Formation Run/P(SH) Play Call Yards
N18 1 10 1 1 3×1(tight) Nickel Even Run Tight Zone 10
Ion slants and Spaight scrapes over top to cancel out all cut back gaps.  RB goes playside where Lanier (-2) can’t knee down on the double team and gets blown out his gap.  Brown fills next to Lanier and the back cuts it inside of him, goes untouched until DJ meets him.  Either Brown fit too wide or Breeland needs to fit behind Brown.  Can’t expect a CB to run fit like that, so that’s probably on Brown not expecting Lanier to get blown out like that.
N28 1 10 1 1 2Hx2 Nickel Even Pass(1) PA SZ RB Throwback Screen 8
Smith (-1) loses outside leverage on his rush and the RB leaks outside, Smith had enough time to see the RB release and read screen.  Brown (-1) probably had RB here but bails out early to cover a Flood concept, he gets pushed down by the WR, (refs -1), Brown needs to pass off that underneath coverage.  The only other explanation is that Smith has flats but not likely.  DJ and Breeland were in man coverage.
N36 2 2 1 2 3WingWRHx1 3-4 under Run Tight Zone 9
WR motions into an Hback position.  Line is set to double McClain and Hood, A gaps are the target.  I have no idea what McGee and Smith are doing, it looks like a stunt but Smith just stands there and they both occupy the same space, that looks to be a lackadasical move by Smith (-0.5).  Hood (+0.5) is able to mitigate the damage to that side and force the RB to cut inside of him.  Spaight does a great job of baiting the LG into chasing him outside before scraping over top of him but then can’t make the tackle, Spaight (-1) would get minused more but he set up that block perfectly.  DJ has to clean up again.
N45 1 10 2 1 Offset I 2×1 3-4 under Run Reverse -12
Smith (+2) and DJ are crashing down on outside zone away, and get a play call fed right to them.  Smith adjusts at the last moment and takes a good angle.  I think this play was trying to make McGee pay for his over aggressive pursuits on OZ, but we had 2 guys outside of him protecting.  There is a bootleg play action that could exploit us later on though.
N33 2 22 1 1 3Bunchx1 Nickel Split Pass(1) Seam/Snag 13
Spaight has deep man out the bunch, probably needs to pass him off sooner to Nicholson and handle the Dig route.  Fuller and Norman play inside outside on the Bunch, Breeland and Nicholson are in Cover 2 to the other side.  Galette (+0.5) (pressure +0.5) makes Brees check it down underneath which saves us from a more dangerous Dig route option.  It took him 4 full seconds though.  That allows time for the deeper routes to develop and draw Norman and Fuller off the underneath reciever.  Norman (-1) gives up 5 yards after the initial tackle.
N46 3 9 1 1 3Bunchx1 Nickel Split Pass(2) Slant/In 12
No pressure whatsoever, Brees is on an island (pressure -1).  Nicholson (-0.5) (coverage -1) is late to cut in on #3 In who he is eyeing the whole way.  He’s playing not get beat deep.  Spaight (-2) fails to get depth after passing off the crosser underneath.  Fuller has flats, yet Spaight is worried about the RB in the flat, not his problem.
W42 1 10 1 2 2Wingx2H 3-4 over Run Split Zone Counter 11
Pre-snap we are lined up to take away any Power or Counter to the Wing side.  No guard pull to kick out but it looks like either Counter or Split Zone cutback, it’s in the grey area in between.  Either way we’re fucked presnap.  Brown and Nicholson are lined up way over to the H back who pulls and Brown (-2) never adjusts to bump down with him.  Him and Nicholson cover the same gap, RB cuts it away from them.  Anderson (+0.5) sheds the TE to his side and funnels the RB inside the pulling HBack but nobody is there to fill.  Spaight has to check for cutbacks and can’t scrape over top of McGee.  Brown is out of his element as Mike and handling calls.
W31 1 10 1 1 2Hx2 Nickel Even Run Split Zone (Tight) 3
Ioannidis (+1.5) splits the double, Brown fills correctly and the RB cuts it back into Nicholson (+1.5) who sheds the crack and makes the play.
W28 2 7 1 1 3Hx1 Nickel Even Pass(1) 4 Verts -6
DJ (-2) (coverage -1) gets beat and the TD is there but the blitz hit home (pressre +1). Kerrigan (+2) bull rushes the RT into the QB’s lap.  Ion and the blitz sucked in the line and left Kerrigan one on one.  RB probably should’ve helped there.
W34 3 13 1 1 2×2 Nickel Split Pass(2) Vert/In/Dump off Inc
Brown (+1) closes in (coverage +1) (pressure +1) Galette-Ion stunt made Brees feel phantom pressure.
52 yd FG is good.  Lanier got tried out on running downs, got yanked after failing to hold up against a double.  Flat zone exposed on single high look.  Missed tackle by Spaight after setting up his shot perfectly.  Failed Zone coverage by Spaight.  Brown got the wrong alignment against the Split Zone and that caused the dominoes to fall on that play, adjusted the next play.  Nicholson played box safety and filled well.  Kerrigan saved a touchdown with that sack.

N41 1 10 1 1 3Hx1 Nickel Pinch Pass(1) In 23
DJ (-1) (coverage -1) needs to get depth after he passes off his man.  But the real culprit is lack of pressure (pressure -2)
W36 1 10 1 2 3Wingx1 3-4 under Run Power 36(TD)
We were ready for this too.  Line slants away from the puller and the backers scrape over top.  Spaight and Brown stack over top each other and the Puller has no idea who to block.  Spaight pops out inside and the RB bounces outside to where Brown can’t reach to because he has to okie doke the guard.  DJ (-2) spins instead of shock and shed the WR and he’s out of position to make the tackle.  DHall (-4) just…whatever.  Smith (-0.5) could squeeze down his gap a bit more.
Touchdown.  Get Dhall the fuck out of there.

We check to single high and Brees checks to a man beating route combo.  RB beats Kerrigan, who I cant in good conscious neg for getting beat in flat coverage when the WR is allowed to block like that. (coverage -1)
N26 2 3 1 2 2Wingx2 3-4 under Run Tight Zone 2
Smith slants inside and Norman has force.  Hood (+2) splits the double and makes the play.
N28 3 1 2 2 I-Form 2Hx1(tight) 3-4 over Run FB Dive 2
Hood (-0.5) cedes too much ground, FB hits it.
N30 1 10 1 1 3Hx1 Nickel Even Pass(1) In Inc
Spaight (+0.5) with the PBU (coverage +1). Galette lost contain but everything was covered up underneath.
N30 2 10 1 1 Empty 3×2 Nickel Even Pass(1) Spot 16
Dhall (-0.5) gives up too much space with his outside leverage.  Main culprit is pressure.  We blitzed and vacated the inside, never got there (pressure -1)
N46 1 10 1 2 3Bunch(tight)x1 4-3 over Run Power 3
Anderson is where the safety normally comes down too.  This allows Brown and Spaight to play over the strong side of power without giving up a big gap.  Their Left Guard is blocking two guys at once, Ioannidis (-0.5) can’t be ceding ground to that.
N49 2 7 1 2 2Wingx3Bunch(LT split) 3-4 under Run Split Zone Counter 2
weird offensive alignment sees the LT with a large split.  This makes a big gap at the line between Lanier and the DE, and puts Lanier at nose.  Yikes.  Lanier (+0.5) shocks the center into the backfield.  Anderson (+2) blows up the sniffer into the RB who trips on him and goes down.
W49 3 5 1 1 3×1 Nickel Split Pass(2) Out Inc
Brees must’ve been expecting Cover 3, because that’s a bad throw with plenty of time (pressure -1) (coverage +1)  Breeland (+1.5) comes off his man to play flats and blows up the out throw.
Punt.  Lack of pressure cost us 16, otherwise a good outing.

Breeland (-1) is fine on coverage, takes inside leverage, but misses the tackle after the catch.
N35 1 10 1 1 3×1 Nickel Even Run Wide Zone -1
Fuller is lined up at linebacker, no WR responsibility.  Kerrigan over top the bunch side.  Hood (+1) stretches out his double, Ioannidis (+0.5) looks to be holding his back and that gives Spaight (+0.5) an alley to fill in.  Fuller (+1) fills in on the other side of Hood into the intended gap they wanted to aim for.
N34 2 11 1 1 2Stackx2 Nickel Even Pass(2) Seam/Cross/Dig 6

W40 2 7 2 1 I-Form 2×1(tight) Tackle Over 3-4 under Run Power 3
Shift to tackle over gives a double team on Lanier.  Lanier gets torqued, but that gives Spaight (+1.5) a cleaner run fit as the Tackle over turns too far in to find Lanier and gives up a run through behind him.  I don’t know if Lanier intended to do that, that looks like he lucked out.
W37 3 4 1 1 3×1 Nickel Okie Pass(1) Snag Inc
Nicholson (+1) (coverage +1) definetly holding but within 5 yards.  (pressure +0.5) Blitz got home in around 3.5 seconds.

N18 2 8 1 2 2Wingx2 4-3 over Pass(2) PA Power 18
We lined up in our ‘stop Power’ formation and it’s play action Power.  There is an offensive alignment that tipped us off and they figured it out.  They stretch Spaight but DJ is the one that needs to cut under this DJ (-0.5) (coverage -1) (pressure -0.5)

N29 1 10 1 1 3×1(tight) Nickel Even Run Wide Zone 24
Hood (-2) comes off the line at a weird angle and now the double team is downfield and Brown has to run horizontally, cut back lane opens up.  Smith isn’t fast enough to track down Kamara, which yeah.  I can’t tell if Hood takes a bad angle or if he’s coached to do this and open up a lane for Smith to track down backside.  Im leaning toward Hood taking a misstep.
W27 1 10 2 1 I-Form 2×1(tight) 3-4 under Run Iso Will 4
Linebackers shift all the way over and the FB has nobody to hit on the weakside and ends up chipping a DL and lanes playside are clogged.  FB has no path to the Will up the middle as there is a pile, good strategy by us.  RB cuts it back behind McGee (+0.5) who extends arms on the RT and plugs his gap.  RB cuts it into Spaight (+0.5) and Smith
W23 2 6 1 1 Pistol 3Bunchx1 Nickel Pinch Run Wide Zone -1
Ioannidis (+0.5) fires behind the guard and gets penetration, stalls the RB.  Brown (+2) fakes outside and draws the OL with him then cuts it back and gets the TFL.
W24 3 7 1 1 3Bunchx1 Nickel Okie Pass(1) Corner Inc
Fuller may have gotten away with face guarding but Lanier gets held like a mofo.  Should’ve been a sack or deflected pass. (pressure +1) Spaight (+0.5) drove into the guard and freed up Lanier to cut inside much like Compton did against Seattle.
FG is good.  Hood gets blame for the 24 yarder, but that might’ve been technique to open up a pursuit lane for Smith.  If so that’s just bad coaching.  Smith chasing Kamara is not likely to end well.
